The film was shortlisted for the 51st New York Film Festival, the 38th Toronto Film Festival, the 70th Venice Film Festival, the 50th Golden Horse Awards and the 56th Asia-Pacific Film Festival. It was also selected as the opening film of the 2013 Golden Horse International Film Festival and was the successor to Tsai Ming-Liang's " It competed for the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival for the fourth time after "Long Live Love", "Unbreakable" and "Dark Circles", and won the Venice Film Festival Jury Prize and the Asia Pacific Film Festival Best Sound Award. Synopsis

"Outing" describes an unemployed father whose wife left him and their children due to poverty. Until he couldn't even afford the rent, he began to live a life of no fixed abode, from the woods in the suburbs, to the river embankments, to the rain-stained streets in the city, to the deserted areas with few people taking care of them. . He got a job holding billboards on the streets and walked around the city every day, while his children wandered around nearby buildings and played among the supermarket merchandise. This film visually presents the hollowness and desolation of people's hearts behind the commercial prosperity.
